Introduction

Follow the instructions below to use SL Mixface as a control surface for your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). The steps vary by each software.

SL Mixface has 3 MIDI Ports, each of them with a specific function:

  • Port 1: CTRL Mode
  • Port 2: Firmware update
  • Port 3: DAW Mode

The ports are called SLMIXUSB in case of USB connetion or SLMIX BT in case of Bluetooth connection.

First step

Make sure the product is configured to work with your DAW:

  1. On Mixface, keep pressed DAW/CTRL to access to the GLOBAL EDIT.
  2. Choose DAW Port and type.
  3. Select the DAW and the type of connection.

Now choose your Digital Audio Workstation:

Ableton Live

  • Launch Ableton Live and choose About Live > Preferences...
  • In the dialog box, open the tab Link MIDI and set the parameters as follow:

Apple Logic Pro X

  • Apple Logic Pro X requires the installation of an additional component, downloadable here.
  • After installing the Add-on, launch Logic Pro X and choose Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Setup...
  • In the dialog box, choose New > Scan All Models. When the scan is complete, Mixface will automatically be selected.
  • Set SLMIXUSB (Port 3) on Input and Output port.

Apple GarageBand

  • Apple GarageBand requires the installation of an additional component, downloadable here.
  • After installing the Add-on, no other action is required.

Avid ProTools

  • Launch ProTools and choose Setup > Peripherals...
  • In the dialog box, open the tab MIDI Controllers and set the parameters as follow:

Cockos Reaper

  • Launch Reaper and choose Reaper > Preferences...
  • In the side menu, open the Control/OSC/web section and press Add
  • In the dialog box, set the parameters as follow:

Motu Digital Performer

  • Launch Digital Performer and choose Setup > Control Surface Setup.
  • In the dialog box, set the parameters as follow:

Presonus Studio One

  • Launch Ableton Live and choose Studio One > Preferences...
  • In the dialog box, select the tab Link MIDI and press Add...
  • On the left list choose Mackie > Control and set the parameters as follow:

Propellerhead Reason

  • Reason requires the installation of an additional component, downloadable here.
  • After installing the Add-on, launch Reason and choose Reason > Preferences...
  • In the dialog box, select the tab Control Surfaces and press Auto-detect Surfaces. When the scan is complete, Mixface will automatically be selected.
  • Close the Preferences and open the Mixer section.
  • Rigli click on the Master Track, enable Lock Studiologic Mixface to this Device.

Steinberg Cubase/Nuendo

  • Before proceeding with the configuration, download and install the Steinberg SKI Remote software, available from the manufacturer's website.
  • Once the SKI Remote is installed, launch Cubase or Nuendo and choose Studio > Studio Setup.
  • In the dialog box, select Mackie Control on the left column and set SLMIXUSB (Port 3)* as MIDI Input and Output.

*In case of Bluetooth connection, choose SLMIX BT instead of SLMIXUSB.
